Hand-threaded portrait art made using acrylic paint, spray paint, and overlayed with nail and thread.
 
Here I am having a lot of fun with colour - I am attempting to depict the portrait  by combining thread and paint, making the two mediums work together in building up form, light and shadow.
 
I use thread as a material that is both delicate but also incredibly strong. While the triangular forms in the subject’s face are strong and harsh, they contrast with the delicacy in the materiality of the thread itself. I attempt to portray a sense of strength and defiance in my subject's facial expressions through the materials of thread and nails.
