"Dreams of Chaos"

Here I am experimenting with depicting the same subject at different angles to portray a sense of movement.

The work is busy, elaborate with a hint of the chaotic - multiple layers of thread and paint work create a striking and bold image, with elements of subtlety in the choice of colour - delicate peach, grey and pinks.

"Collaboration"

‘Collaboration’ is a work of reflection. I looked back to my previous creations, scrutinising what elements I was most drawn to. One element in particular was when the line of paint accidentally follows the line of the thread. Normally the paint works in opposition to the thread, but here I intend for the paint and thread to work together

"Ikki"

This piece is just explosive! My aim was to create a bold work, that reflects the confident and dynamic personality of the subject. Splashes of colour, broad brushstrokes, splatters of paint all capture a vibrancy and energy that represents the subject’s character.

Here I have created ‘reliefs’ in the work – holes cut out and replaced with more layers of paint and thread. I have included abstract elements which play with composition of line and colour palette. The ‘reliefs’ disrupt the portrait without taking away from it. The work dances between the realms of being two-dimensional and three dimensional
